Sourcing primarily seasonally available flowers increases sustainability of the floral industry and supports your local farm owners and your local biodiversity of pollinators. The Origin Story of FLower Power Blooms
In 2020 our owner and lead designer, Taylor, was in the process of studying to get her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. She was working in the ER at a local hospital during COVID lockdowns. Between working in the ER during a worldwide pandemic and studying to become an ER nurse, Taylor was STRESSED. Life felt heavy and isolating. The exhaustion of saving lives in a pandemic was wearing her down.
Taylor decided to do something she’d never done before
She planted wildflower seeds in her back patio 5x5 patch of bare dirt.
Little did she know that these ‘flower dust’ seeds would become her primary source of hope and joy that summer. Taylor watched her tiny bare patch of dirt turn into a constantly blooming flower garden for the entire summer. Every morning she woke up, coffee in hand, walked out to the patch of flowers, watered them and joyfully admired every new bloom that appeared.
The JOY and PEACE that flowers brought into her life ignited a fire in her heart, and she began researching all kinds of specialty cut flowers.
In 2022, Taylor bought her first house with a backyard and her flower farming dreams kicked off. Having no clue what she was doing, Taylor tilled up 6 beds and planted Ranunculus, Dahlias, Zinnias, Sunflowers, Larkspur, Sweet Peas, and Cosmos. Her farm garden exploded with color and life, and the PEACE and connection to the earth brought her so much joy during one of the hardest periods of time in her (and the collective world’s) life.
Taylor knew she had to follow her intuition
and share her flower joy with the world.
Over the next couple of years, life happened and Taylor moved a couple more times, but by 2024 she knew the flower farming and floral design dreams needed to become and official business - but what would she name her blooming business?
Taylor spent 4.5 months of life in 2016 thru hiking the 2200 mile Appalachian Trail from Maine to Georgia. Walking through 14 states with her whole life on her back, she earned the trail name “Flower Power” from picking flowers and tucking them behind her ear. She eventually added her signature bright orange headband embroidered with bright flowers to her trail gear. She still has the headband all these years later, and she still tucks flowers behind her ear while hiking.
That journey along the Appalachian Trail changed the trajectory of her life forever, and that part of her still lives inside her soul - “Flower Power” will always be a piece of who she is, and an integral part of the story of her life.
